Akhuwat Bicycle Project

Akhuwat Bicycle Project (ABP) is another endeavor of Akhuwat to provide population of low-income group of Lahore with an environment friendly yet low-cost mode of transport. ABP will be initiating Akhuwat Cycle Service (ACS) in Lahore and the operational location of ACS will be five most crowded stations of Metro Bus Service. ACS will provide passengers of Metro Bus Service and other local transport with bi-cycles which will be available on rent at very nominal charges per hour. This initiative is a contribution of Akhuwat towards efforts in protecting our environment by encouraging people towards healthy habit of cycling. ACS aims to lower the costs of passengers of Metro Bus Service who have to hire another mode of transport such as rikshaws or mini vans to reach their daily destinations like colleges, universities, offices and any other location. ACS is first of its kind social enterprise in Pakistan, initially A8P will start this ACS with 80 bicycles at 5 Metro Bus Stations and gradually the number of bicycles will be increased based on the feedback of market. ACS will provide services to population which holds a National Identity Card and are capable of driving a vehicle. ACS hopes to successfully eliminate all stereotypical taboos attached with cycling, contribute in making Lahore an environment friendly city, and most importantly facilitate the low-income group.
